getting the word out

Here at thepurplebook, things have been incredibly busy lately as, for the first time, we've released two books at once. thepurplebook Green and thepurplebook Wedding hit the shelves in early-to-mid-february in what you might call a slow rollout (meaning that unlike, say, Harry Potter, there was no fixed national release date, and only a handful of people waiting with baited breath for their amazon pre-orders to arrive).

The books are out there, though, and initial response has been terrific.

the Green Edition is catching on big time with environmentalists and eco-bloggers, and the idea that online shopping can pave the way for America to go green is gaining traction. We've also gotten enthusiastic support from the 400+ earth-friendly retailers featured in the book, many of whom want to promote it to their existing customers, just because they believe green shopping benefits us all. (if you haven't gotten your copy yet, the first 2 chapters offer simple instruction on how to go green without taking any drastic measures or personal sacrifice).

In the meantime, the Wedding Edition is gathering buzz within bridal circles, and while we still haven't figured out a way to crack that all-important prospective-groom market, the book's valuable planning guides and checklists have already started to garner praise around the web. Wedding planners and bridal magazines are turning on to the online bridal shops we mention, but we still think it's our unprecedented list of the web's best bridal registries that newlyweds will remember us for...

All the attention is making it hard for us to get any headway on the next book, but rest assured, we are rolling up our sleeves and wading back in to the unchrarted territories of e-commerce.
